Don't be Afraid to Show Your Face
One of the first things I did when I started working on my digital marketing was to put my face on camera.
I have pink eye right now and today I'm not wearing makeup on my eyes and I would never have done that before I started marketing.
I realized something: People don't care.
You worry so much about what people think of you. You worry so much about how you look, or all this, or that.
I become so comfortable that, not that I still like to be on social media, but I have a message and I want to help people; that is more important than my puffy eyes now.
Serve to Serve-Not Just Sell
You have to make sure that you're serving to serve, not to sell.
The sale will come because people can tell that you genuinely care.
And if you're not out there doing it, guess what? Somebody else is that might not be as good as you.
The best real estate agents are the ones that truly care about their clients.
Social Media Posts Can be Simple and Easy
Some people post videos about an interesting aspect of a house they are selling or a unique house from the 1800s.
Or random posts about beautiful architecture or a cohesive color pallet.
Those kinds of posts can draw people in and show off what you sell!
Maybe you're sitting in your car waiting for a client to come and you do a quick video about something bizarre in a house and you post it while you're waiting.
You just created a social media post in 10 minutes!
It doesn't have to be as complicated as you think, one thing we focus on in the Digital Journey Mastermind.
Share the Joys of the Area
It's usually the 80-20 rule where I'll spotlight different companies.
I'll do restaurant of the week or place of the week, or "Hey, here's some good information for you," or, "Here's a recipe."
Then "Oh, yes, I did sell a house," or "here's my newest listing," so that it's not constantly real estate.
I do have a real estate page and so I do keep it more professional there, but most people are on my own page. I don't post my listing just on that.
Know, Like, Trust
It's called the know, like and trust.
You do specific things so that people get to know you, they get to like you, they get to trust you.
So you might put a reach out out there. And so then you can retarget to the three second people who've watched your ad, then you retarget again to the 10 second people.
Then you can do a lead information sheet, or you can do something else (check out this FREE real estate social media post ideas sheet here.)
Honesty and Hard Work Pays Off
I think that if you have a client who has bought and sold multiple homes, then they probably know the difference between a lazy realtor and a hardworking realtor.
But if you have somebody who this is the first time they ever bought, the first time they've ever sold, they don't know the difference.
And, truth be told, I think that that's why there was that big lawsuit that we're all going to be affected by now.
I mean, I've never walked into a client, a listing presentation or a listing period, and said, "You have to pay the 3%," or "You have to do this, you have to do that."
But your clients absolutely trust you and you have a fiduciary duty to make sure that you're taking care of them, not your own needs.
So that's where I always say, "how much do you want to pay?: It's never been an issue. That's why all these people are making such a big deal about this.
Well, if you've done the same thing, you've done it right the whole time.
